The current generation of the world’s best-selling compact crossover has been around since 2018 and the 2024 Toyota RAV4 will represent the sixths model year. Considering the sales number and the fact that the current model is still competitive in many aspects, we are pretty sure that no bigger changes will occur in the next year. Instead, we expect to see a familiar design, with familiar specs and features, though there is always a possibility to see minor updates, such as new color options, for example.
You may count on familiar design characteristics, starting from the fact that this SUV comes equipped with a couple of pretty efficient powertrains. We also like the styling, as well as the long list of standard safety features. The RAV4 is easy to drive comfortably, though there are more athletic rivals on the market.
As no bigger changes are expected, we believe that the 2024 Toyota RAV4 would arrive sometime in the last quarter of 2024.
2024 Toyota RAV4 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Toyota RAV4 will probably be a typical carryover model, which means that there are no significant changes to come. Instead, we expect to see a familiar design, based on the TNGA platform, which still offers pretty attractive aesthetics, despite that most rivals are now younger. Not many things have changed since the initial launch, though we should say that the 2021 brought new LED lights and wheels.
Mechanically, things are the same as in the initial 2019 model year. The RAV4 features a pretty nice suspension setup, which provides a smooth and comfortable ride. The handling is decent enough, though we have to say that many rivals feel more athletic, starting from Mazda CX-5, Ford Escape, VW Tiguan etc.
Interior
The same thing is with interior design. Not many things have changed since the initial launch but the cabin still looks decently attractive. Many rivals look more upscale but the RAV4’s cabin features pretty good build quality and a high level of functionality. The materials are really nice, and there is a lot of attention to detail. Also, there is a decent number of tech and convenience features, which add an extra luxury touch.
Both rows of seats are spacious enough to accommodate adults with ease. The front seats are comfortable and well-shaped, while the driving position is very good, whether it’s about ergonomics or outward visibility. The second row is also quite generous with space, though newer models like Hyundai Tucson offer even more legroom.
The cargo area is typical for the segment. You may count on about 37.5 cubic feet behind the second row and nearly 70 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
Features
We may see a few novelties on the list of standard equipment but most things will certainly remain the same. Therefore, expect to see base models equipped with tech and convenience features like a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker stereo, voice recognition, Bluetooth, and a USB port. Also, count on a pretty generous list of available upgrades. Some of the highlights should be an 8-inch touch screen, an 11-speaker JBL premium stereo, navigation, wireless device charging, four additional USB ports, HD Radio, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display, a moonroof, a panoramic roof, a universal garage door opener, ambient interior lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, and a household-style power outlet.
The RAV4 will continue to be very generous with standard safety equipment. We expect to find goodies like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane tracing assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, a rearview camera etc.
2024 Toyota RAV4 Engines
The base 2024 Toyota RAV4 will continue with the good-old 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four, which puts out around 203 horsepower. The engine comes in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission and offers pretty decent driving dynamics. More importantly, fuel economy is excellent, as it goes around 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.
Other than the gasoline version, you can choose between two hybrid variants. The first one features a classic hybrid setup, with a combined output of 219 horsepower. Besides decent performance, this powertrain also provides pretty impressive fuel economy, which goes around 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.
Finally, there is the RAV4 Prime, with a plug-in hybrid setup with a total output of 302 horsepower. This setup provides pretty impressive acceleration and overall performance, while you may also count on 42 miles of the all-electric range.
2024 Toyota RAV4 Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2024 Toyota RAV4 sometime in the last quarter of 2023, with a starting price of around 28.000 dollars.
