The current generation of Mitsubishi’s compact crossover has been around for a while and despite it’s still pretty fresh, it looks like the Japanese manufacturer is working on a couple of updates for the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander, which would make it even more appealing. The first one that comes to mind is the Ralliart version, which would come not just with exclusive styling details but also with a more capable powertrain. Speaking of the powertrain, some sources suggest that the base 2.5-liter inline-four could be replaced with a smaller-displacement, turbocharged engine. We are still waiting for the officials to say more about the expected novelties.
On the other hand, the overall layout will remain the same. This compact crossover has a lot of great things to offer, starting from the spacious and well-designed cabin that offers three rows of seats. We also like the dashboard design, which utilizes high-quality materials and comes with lots of tech features.
Considering the possible updates, we presume that the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander could arrive a little bit earlier than usual, though still within the second half of the year.
2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Novelties
As we’ve just mentioned, there are a few possible novelties we could see for the next year. The first one is the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart. The company already presented the concept and we presume that the production version would be quite similar. In terms of powertrain, this means we would see an upgraded version of the new plug-in hybrid system, which would be good for about 278 horsepower. Other than the upgraded powertrain, we would also see a couple of exclusive styling details, such as a more aggressive front-end design, new wheel archers, 22 wheels, etc.
Another possible novelty to see is the new base powertrain. Allegedly, the current 2.5-liter inline-four would be replaced with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine, with a max output of 201 horsepower. That engine already powers the Outlander’s closest sibling, Nissan Rogue, so this scenario seems quite likely, even though the officials are still quiet.
2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Design
Despite the updates, the overall design of the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander won’t change. Simply, we are talking about a model that was introduced in 2022 and still feels pretty fresh in every aspect. We like its styling very much and the only update in this aspect, apart from the new Ralliart version, could be the addition of new color options.
When it comes to mechanics, we count on the same chassis and suspension setup. The Outlander is comfortable and pretty smooth, though it doesn’t lack athleticism all that much. It is a well-balanced SUV, easy to drive, and great for longer journeys.
Interior
Until recently, this SUV was criticized for its low-rent interior. That changed with the arrival of the current generation, which became way more luxurious. The new cabin utilizes high-quality materials, which come in a combination with very elegant aesthetics, full of horizontal lines and classic design solutions. Furthermore, there is a pretty generous offer of tech features, while the new gear selector also looks pretty fancy.
Just like the previous generation, the current model stands out with three rows of seats. Even today, there aren’t many compact crossovers with the available third row and even though it’s pretty tight in the Outlander, it significantly increases the overall functionality of this SUV. The first two rows are very generous with space, while the front seats are also well-shaped and offer good side support.
When it comes to cargo capacity, you may count on 11.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, 33.5 cubic feet behind the second row, and impressive 79.7 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
Features
Although there’s always a chance for additions to the list of standard and available equipment, we presume that most things will remain the same as in the current model. The current model comes standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, two USB ports, voice recognition, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Among available upgrades, you can get things like a 9-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless device charging, a 10-speaker Bose premium stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio, two rear USB ports, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, proximity keyless entry, tri-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a panoramic sunroof.
Also, there is a pretty long list of standard safety features, which includes a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert etc.
2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 30.000 dollars.
