2024 Lexus LX Could Get Hybrid Powertrain and Off-Road Trim

2024 Lexus LX 600

The company’s flagship SUV has just been redesigned. It came after so many years and, logically, it brought all kinds of interesting novelties. However, that doesn’t mean that Japanese engineers are done with novelties. The 2024 Lexus LX is about to bring important upgrades. It looks like the luxury SUV is about to get a more-rugged, off-road version. Some sources also speculate about a hybrid powertrain, which could join the lineup soon.

While these would be pretty big novelties that would make any car more appealing, we are pretty sure that the overall layout won’t change. We are about to see a familiar overall design, which has so many great things to offer, starting from the luxurious cabin, potent turbo V6 engine, long list of standard features etc. Despite the updates, we don’t believe that the 2024 Lexus LX will arrive much earlier than usual. We expect to see it in the second half of 2023.

2024 Lexus LX Design

In terms of the overall design, things will definitely remain the same. The new generation of this SUV rides on a new TNGA-F platform and offers notably better ride quality than its predecessor. It is also significantly lighter and more efficient, while the new styling has brought mostly evolutionary changes. The 2024 Lexus LX will continue in the same way in this aspect but the latest reports suggest a new, additional version of the SUV, which would put focus on off-road performance.

The LX definitely needs such a version and presume it will come with similar upgrades to those in the off-road version of the new Land Cruiser 300. This means we would see all kinds of mechanical upgrades, starting from the off-road suspension, three locking differentials, two-speed transfer case, additional traction control modes etc. Naturally, we would also expect to see a couple of styling upgrades, which would accentuate the model’s off-road performance character.

Interior

On the other hand, bigger interior changes shouldn’t happen, which isn’t an issue at all. Simply, the redesign has brought a completely new cabin design, with significant improvements over the previous generation. The new dashboard looks elegant and attractive, while the whole cabin is wrapped with pretty fine materials. Typically for Lexus, the build quality and attention to detail are excellent. Finally, there is a generous amount of tech and convenience features, which makes this cabin look even more impressive.

The new generation kept the same dimensions as its predecessor. Once again, we are talking about one of the smallest SUVs in the class. So, it’s no wonder that the third row isn’t particularly generous with space. On the other hand, the first and the second row are pretty generous with space and very comfortable.

Features

Although there is always a chance to see some additions to the list of standard equipment, the current LX is already fully-loaded with standard features. So, it’s hard to believe that something bigger could happen in this aspect. So, the list of standard equipment should include an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch and 7-inch touch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a 10-speaker premium stereo, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, wireless device charging, navigation, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, and a moonroof.

Among available upgrades, expect to find goodies like ambient lighting, a center-console cooler, two additional USB ports, a 25-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound stereo, rear wireless device charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 11.4-inch displays.

When it comes to safety features, base models will come standard with goodies like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane tracing assist, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors etc.

2024 Lexus LX Engines

The standard 2024 Lexus LX will continue with the same 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which puts out around 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. It comes coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission and offers pretty strong performance, in a combination with pretty decent fuel economy that goes around 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

The next year could finally bring so-much anticipated hybrid version. We presume the company will use the same system as in the new Tundra, based on the V6 engine. That version puts out around 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque but we don’t exclude the possibility to see some slight upgrades in terms of power and torque in the case of the LX Hybrid.

2024 Lexus LX Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Lexus LX will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2023, with a starting price of around 88.000 dollars.
