After the recent refresh that was introduced with the 2023 model, we are pretty sure that the next year’s, 2024 Ford Escape will come without more important changes. Namely, the recent update has brought a lot of new things, which clearly indicates that the current generation has a few more years before it gets a complete redesign. We expect to see minor tweaks only, where some of the trim levels could get a new standard feature or something like that. The overall layout will remain the same.
So, you may count on a crossover that still has a lot of good things to offer. We like the peppy optional turbo-four, as well as the very efficient hybrid powertrains. Also, the cabin is spacious, while the ride is smooth and comfortable. Furthermore, the new infotainment system is intuitive and easy to use while, on the other hand, the main complaints go to things like uninspiring handling and unrefined transmission.
Considering that there will be no bigger changes, we presume that the 2024 Ford Escape will hit the market sometime late in the year.
2024 Ford Escape Design
The Escape has just been refreshed. There is the new styling, which brings a lot of novelties, particularly at the front, though the rear end looks nicer as well. Compared to the previous version, the new one looks more like an SUV than before. The appearance is bolder and more aggressive, with new headlights, a grille and other parts that look less smooth and angular than before. The 2024 Ford Escape should continue in the same way, without more important updates.
The same is with mechanics. We expect to see a familiar setup, which offers a smooth and comfortable ride. Unlike some previous generations, the new model isn’t particularly engaging to drive. The steering feel is great, while there is more body lean than you would expect from a typical Ford.
Interior
There are also a few interior updates that were introduced with the recent refresh, particularly in terms of the new 13.2-inch infotainment system that comes with the new-generation SYNC4 software. Other than that, the cabin feels familiar, so there’s no doubt that the 2024 Ford Escape will continue in the same way. The cabin doesn’t look as flashy as its rivals and offers decent overall quality, in a combination with great ergonomics and great overall functionality.
Besides good quality, there is a generous amount of passenger space. The front seats are designed well and offer both good comfort and good side support. The second row is generous with legroom and accommodates adults with ease. When it comes to cargo space, you may count on about 37.5 cubic feet of room behind the rear seats and 65.4 cubic feet in total, which is pretty good for the segment.
Tech Features
There is a new trim-level organization in 2023 and the next year’s model will continue in the same way. So, base versions will come standard with an 8-inch unit, while the new 13.2-inch touchscreen is available in more expensive versions. The latter runs on the latest SYNC4 infotainment system, which offers numerous upgrades over the previous generation, whether it’s about graphics, response, easiness of use etc. It comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and accepts over-the-air updates. Among available features, you may also count on a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as a 10-speaker B&O Play audio system, in-dash navigation, a pop-up head-up display etc.
Every 2024 Escape should come standard with safety and driver-assistance features like forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams etc.
2024 Ford Escape Engines
Once again, the 2024 Ford Escape will come with two gasoline and two hybrid powertrain options on offer. Base models will carry on with a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder unit, which puts out around 180 horsepower. Although decent enough for daily commuting, we would rather go for the optional 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, and offers significantly better driving dynamics. Both units come in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.
Also, there are two hybrid models on offer. The first one is a classic, self-charging hybrid, based on a 2.5-liter inline-four, with a combined output of 192 horsepower. The PHEV is based on the same engine but offers 211 horsepower of the total output. Both units come with a CVT and both offer excellent fuel economy that goes over 40mpg combined. The PHEV also offers 37 miles of range in the EV mode.
2024 Ford Escape Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2024 Ford Escape sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 27.500 dollars. Key competitors are models like Hyundai Tucson, Mazda CX-5, Kia Sportage etc.
