The Q5 has been the brand’s best-selling vehicle for a long time and therefore, it’s no wonder that the Ingolstadt carmaker is paying special attention to this compact crossover. It’s been treated with frequent updates, to remain fresh and competitive and now, it’s time for a full redesign. The new generation will come after seven years and therefore, we have no doubt it will bring a lot of novelties. Of course, we also count on the 2024 Audi SQ5, which will once again be a performance version of the SUV.
The new model has already been spotted on the road, though with a camouflage. We expect that the development will be finalized soon and that the sales could start in the second half of the year. The SQ5 should arrive about the same time, with familiar upgrades that include various aesthetical enhancements, mechanical upgrades, a more capable powertrain etc.
2024 Audi SQ5 Design
So, the next-generation Q5 is on the way and it looks like there are numerous changes to come. One of the first things to say is that the new generation will continue to ride on the MLB platform, but various updates should be implemented. Of course, there is also the new styling, which is yet to be unveiled. Still, despite the cover, the test mule shows a completely new design philosophy, highlighted by new LED lighting groups and grille that mimic design solutions from the electrified Audi models.
The 2024 Audi SQ5 will come with typical upgrades, similar to the current generation. So, the first thing you’ll notice are various aesthetical upgrades, starting from the different grille, bigger wheels, more aggressive bumpers and other details that accentuate the model’s performance character. Of course, mechanical upgrades will also be implemented, in terms of the sportier suspension, bigger brakes and other chassis enhancements.
Interior
The upcoming redesign will also bring radical changes on the inside, with a completely new dashboard design. Compared to the outgoing model, we will see a free-standing digital instrument cluster, instead of the integrated one in the current model. Also, there is a new, massive square infotainment screen, along with other tech goodies.
The 2024 Audi SQ5 interior will come with typical enhancements, with things like new materials, exclusive color schemes, sportier seats etc. Still, the overall layout won’t be much different compared to the current model, in terms of space and seating configuration. The 2024 Audi SQ5 will be able to accommodate adults in both rows, while we also count on a more generous cargo area.
2024 Audi SQ5 Engine
Although the officials are still quiet, we expect that Ingolstadt engineers won’t change much in this aspect. The current model comes with a 3.0-liter turbo V6, which puts out 349 horsepower and makes this SUV able to hit 60 in just 4.7 seconds. We presume the new model would continue with the same engine, though a certain power boost is possible. It probably won’t be significant.
We expect that the engine will come coupled with a familiar 8-speed automatic transmission, while all-wheel drive will be standard, of course. When it comes to fuel economy, we presume that the ratings will be similar to the current model, which returns around 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
2024 Audi SQ5 Release Date and Price
The next-generation Q5 is in the advanced stage of development and we expect that the 2024 Audi SQ5 will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 58.000 dollars. Of course, key competitors will be models like BMW X3 M40i and Mercedes-AMG GLC 43.
