2024 Audi Q7 Preview, Changes, Redesign, Interior, Release Date

2024 Audi Q7

It looks like the second generation of Audi’s mid-size crossover will feature a very long production cycle, just like the original model did. While the first generation was in production for a full decade, the current version has been in production since 2015 and it looks like it has a few more years before it gets replaced. The latest reports suggest that the new model won’t arrive before 2025, which clearly indicates that the 2024 Audi Q7 is going to be a typical carryover model. We expect to see a familiar layout, with minimal updates.

That would mean a well-known design, which was updated in 2020 but hasn’t changed significantly since the initial launch eight years ago. The Q7 offers a smooth and comfortable ride and combines it with a very good all-wheel-drive system. Furthermore, we like the interior design very much, as it is full of quality materials and tech features. Finally, there is a powertrain lineup, which includes a couple of pretty capable, but also thirsty powertrains.

Since there are no significant changes to come, we expect that the 2024 Audi Q7 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2024 Audi Q7 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation has been around since 2015 and not many things have changed since then. Of course, we saw a 2020 update but that refresh was mostly about styling changes. We saw a new front end, with a revised grille, headlights etc. On the other hand, most of the vehicle remained the same. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the 2024 Audi Q7 will continue in the same way, though minor updates like new color options are always possible.

Logically, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle will also remain the same. We expect to see a familiar chassis setup, which includes standard air suspension in all models. This feature is responsible for a butter-smooth ride, while the standard Quattro all-wheel-drive system keeps the level of athleticism pretty high.

Interior

The current generation may be old but it aged like wine, at least from the inside. This is still one of the nicest cabins in the segment, thanks to the smart combination of conventional aesthetical solutions and super-fine materials. Furthermore, there is also an impressive amount of tech features, which all have a big impact on the overall appearance, which looks pretty impressive even today..

Besides, excellent build quality, this cabin also offers plenty of comfort, at least in the first two rows. The front seats are well-shaped and massive, with great comfort and side support. The second row is nothing less impressive and it accommodates three adult passengers with ease. On the other hand, the third row is pretty tight, even by the standards of a mid-size luxury crossover. The cargo area isn’t impressive either, as it offers around 14.2 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 35.7 cubic feet behind the second, and 69.6 cubic feet behind the first row.

Tech Features

As we are talking about a typical carryover model, it’s pretty much for sure that the list of standard and available equipment will remain largely the same. Therefore, we expect base models to come with goodies like a 10.1-inch upper touch screen, an 8.6-inch lower touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, navigation, Bluetooth, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot, satellite radio, HD Radio, a 10-speaker stereo, push-button start, proximity keyless entry, a panoramic sunroof, and tri-zone automatic climate control.

Among options, expect to find goodies like wireless device charging, a 19-speaker Bose stereo, a 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, quad-zone automatic climate control etc.

2024 Audi Q7 Engines

The engine lineup should consist of three familiar powertrain options, starting from the base 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It’s plenty enough for daily commuting, though we don’t like the mpg ratings, which are very low for a crossover with a turbo-four engine. You may count on no more than 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, which is way below average for this segment.

Therefore, we think that the optional 3.0-liter V6 is a much better choice, with a max output of 335 horsepower. It offers notably better performance, while the built-in 48-volt mild-hybrid system makes it as efficient as the turbo-four.  It returns around 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

Finally, there is the SQ7 model, equipped with a twin-turbo V8, with a max output of 500 horsepower, which needs less than 4.5 seconds to hit 60 mph.

2024 Audi Q7 Release Date and Price

Since there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2024 Audi Q7 will arrive in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 59.000 dollars. Of course, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Volvo XC90 will remain the key competitors.
