The current generation of Toyota’s biggest SUV is too old by any standards. It’s been around since 2008, so it’s no wonder that fans of this reliable and capable SUV are desperate for a complete redesign. At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation but if we can rely on rumors, the new model will arrive in the next year, as the 2023 Toyota Sequoia. Once the Japanese manufacturer is done with the new Tundra, it will start finalizing the process of its SUV sibling.
At this point, we can only speculate about design characteristics. The only certain thing is the platform, which will be the same as for the next-generation Tundra. Other than that, we expect to see a completely new styling, new interior design, new engine options and similar things. The new 2023 Toyota Sequoia should be way better in every aspect compared to the outgoing model.

2023 Toyota Sequoia Redesign
This will be the first redesign in nearly 15 years, so it’s not hard to conclude that it will be massive. At this point, the officials are still quiet but some of the aspects are pretty easy to predict. This particularly refers to the platform and mechanics in general. Just like the upcoming Tundra, the new Sequoia will ride on a body-on-frame version of the new TNGA platform.
Compared to the outgoing model, it will bring improvements in various aspects, starting from the rid equality. The new model will certainly feature a lower center of gravity, which will provide better handling of this huge SUV. Also, the new model is expected to be notably lighter. Combined with new engine options, it should have a highly positive impact of fuel efficiency.

They all show the same thing, and that would be a typical SUV body, combined with Toyota’s new design language, which is expected to be presented with the upcoming Tundra. It is characterized by massive bold lines and attractive, futuristic headlights design. Of course, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia may come with a couple of differences but we are still waiting for the officials to find out more details.
As you can see, we expect big styling changes for the 2023 Toyota Sequoia. What we don’t expect are big changes regarding the size. We expect that the new model will feature similar dimensions to the current model, which is already characterized by an impressive size. It features 122 inches in wheelbase, while the total length goes over 205 inches. As we’ve just mentioned, we expect that the new model will be notably lighter compared to the outgoing generation, which weighs over 5.730 pounds.
Interior
This is the aspect where Sequoia desperately needs changes. The current model hasn’t changed too much since the 2008 launch. Moreover, most of the cabin remained untouched, which means that it features a fairly outdated dashboard design, which doesn’t just look old, but also features mostly low-grade materials. We expect this to change with the upcoming redesign. The new 2023 Toyota Sequoia should look much nicer from the inside. We expect that the new model will feature a more attractive dashboard and come with much finer materials. Furthermore, we also count on a full load of new tech features.
On the other hand, things shouldn’t change too much in terms of interior space and overall practicality. The new model will certainly continue with three spacious rows of seats, as well as a respectable cargo area.
2023 Toyota Sequoia Engine
The current model uses an old and thirsty V8 engine and that will change. We expect that the 2023 Toyota Sequoia will switch to a turbo V6, just like the Tundra. This means a 3.4-liter V6 engine, which puts out around 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The engine should come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Besides the standard gasoline version, we could also see a variant with a hybrid powertrain. We presume that the system would be based on a 3.5-liter V6 engine, while the combined output would go around 450 horsepower. At this point, the officials are still quiet.
2023 Toyota Sequoia Release Date and Price
The 2023 Toyota Sequoia will probably arrive some time in the second half of 2022. We presume that the base price will go around 50.000 dollars, roughly. Of course, the competition remains the same – Ford Expedition, Chevy Tahoe, Nissan Armada etc.
