The current generation of Kia’s three-row crossover debuted last year and if we consider that the 2022 model is also coming with big novelties, it’s pretty much a certain thing that the 2023 Kia Sorento is about to carry on in the same way. We don’t expect to see any notable changes, though there is always room for minor updates, such as new standard features and new color options. Anything more than that would be a real surprise.
All in all, you may count on a familiar layout, which has a lot of good things to offer. We like the fact that the model packs three rows of seats in a quite compact package, which makes it more versatile than similarly-priced SUVs on the market. Also, the powertrain offer is very generous and some of the engines are pretty efficient. Finally, there is a high-quality interior, one of the nicest in the class.
Since there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2023 Kia Sorento will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022.
2023 Kia Sorento Redesign
Design-wise, the 2023 Kia Sorento won’t change at all. The current generation is still pretty fresh and we don’t believe that bigger changes could occur in the next few years. Simply, the recent redesign has brought a lot of improvements, especially in terms of chassis and suspension setup. The new Sorento is easy to drive and offers a well-balanced suspension setup. It’s pretty comfortable on long journeys but at the same time, it doesn’t disappoint in terms of handling and overall athleticism.
The styling is also very fresh, so there is no doubt that the 2023 Kia Sorento will carry on in the same way. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see new color options on the offer. Moreover, visual packages are pretty popular these days in the automotive industry, so we might see one of them for this crossover as well.
Interior
Once again, no bigger changes are expected. The 2023 Kia Sorento should continue with a familiar cabin layout, which offers a little bit of everything – it is spacious, practical and fairly luxurious.
When it comes to the overall build quality, there is really nothing to complain about. Everything looks nice, while the materials are pretty fine and soft to the touch in most areas. Furthermore, the build quality is pretty impressive for the asking price.
The first two rows are very generous with space and offer a high level of comfort. Moreover, the front seats are massive and supportive, while the driving position is great. On the other hand, the Sorento pays its debt to relatively compact dimensions, so the third row feels really tight. For the same reason, the cargo area offers around 12 cubic feet behind the third row, 45.5 behind the second, and 75 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. These are pretty modest numbers for the segment.
Features
Novelties in this aspect are always possible but the 2022 model already seems pretty generous in this aspect. So, most of the things should remain the same as in the current versions. The base version should come standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, a six-speaker stereo, HD Radio, and six USB ports.
You can find lots of interesting stuff among options. Some of the highlights are goodies like a 10.25-inch touch screen, satellite radio, navigation, voice recognition, additional second-row USB ports, a rear-seat entertainment system, wireless device charging, a 12-speaker Bose premium stereo, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, universal garage door opener and many more.
2023 Kia Sorento Engines
The 2023 Kia Sorento will come with four powertrain options on the offer. Base models will continue with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 191 horsepower and comes in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.
While the base engine offers a decent amount of power, we would rather go with the optional turbo-four, which features a max output of 281 horsepower. Also, this engine is paired with a dual-clutch 8-speed transmission, which additionally improves performance.
If you prefer hybrid technology, the 2023 Kia Sorento will come with two models of this kind. The first one is a classic hybrid, which is based on a 1.6-liter turbo-four engine, which offers a combined output of 227 horsepower. There is also a plug-in hybrid version, which puts out 260 horsepower and also offers 32 miles of the all-electric range.
2023 Kia Sorento Release Date and Price
We expect the 2023 Kia Sorento to hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022, with a starting price of around 30.000 dollars. Some of the key competitors would be models like Hyundai Santa Fe, VW Tiguan, Mitsubishi Outlander etc.
