2023 GMC Acadia Preview: No Bigger Changes To Come

2023 GMC Acadia

The current generation of GMC’s mid-size crossover has been around since 2017 and easy to guess that the next generation will come soon. According to the latest reports, the new model will debut with the 2024 model year, which means that the 2023 GMC Acadia will represent the final model year of the generation. In other words, we don’t expect to see any particular changes. Most of the things will remain the same, while the best we could see are minor tweaks in terms of colors and standard equipment.

On the other hand, the overall layout will remain the same. You may count on an SUV that still has a couple of good things to offer. We like its ride quality, as well as pretty good fuel economy. Furthermore, we like the intuitive infotainment system, as well as comfortable two rows of seats. On the other hand, the biggest complaints go to the tight third row and small cargo area, while the interior quality isn’t particularly impressive either.

As there are no big changes to come for the next year, we expect that the 2023 GMC Acadia will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2023.

2023 GMC Acadia Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 GMC Acadia will probably represent the final production year of the current generation. So, we don’t expect to see any bigger change. The next year’s model will carry on with the same layout, which has been around since 2017. However, keep in mind the 2020 update, which has brought a new styling, which still looks fresh and appealing.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect hasn’t changed much since the initial launch of the generation. The car is based on the familiar C1 platform and offers a quite balanced ride quality. The Acadia is a comfortable SUV, but its handling and overall ride quality are still quite far from dull.

Interior

The same thing goes for interior design. The fact that this is going to be the final production year of the generation clearly indicates that we won’t be seeing more important changes. The overall cabin design is nice. The dashboard looks attractive though we have to see that there are some areas with low-rent plastics, which make this SUV feel less upscale compared to rivals.

When it comes to passenger space, the Acadia offers a couple of pretty spacious and comfortable rows of seats. However, the third row isn’t that impressive. It feels cramped and accommodates kids only. The cargo area isn’t impressive either. You may count on about 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third-row seats, 41.7 cubic feet behind the second and the max capacity of 79 cubic feet. That’s less than you get from average three-row SUVs, such as models like Toyota Highlander or Ford Explorer.

Features

Although we could see a couple of new things on the list of standard features, most of them will remain the same as in the current model. The current model comes standard with goodies like tri-zone climate control, push-button start, an 8-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, USB ports, Bluetooth, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, you can get upgrades like navigation, wireless device charging, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, HD Radio, and a rear-seat entertainment system, as well as a dual-pane sunroof and remote start.

When it comes to safety features, all models should come standard with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring etc. Also, you can get upgrades like front pedestrian braking, head-up display, surround-view camera etc.

2023 GMC Acadia Engines

This aspect of the car definitely won’t bring changes and the 2023 GMC Acadia will continue with two familiar engine options on offer. Base models will continue with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. While that’s enough for most drivers, we definitely like the optional V6 more. A 3.6-lite V6 engine puts out 310 horsepower and offers notably better driving dynamics.

When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. That is pretty good for a three-row SUV. On the other hand, the V6 is thirstier and returns around 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. That’s rather typical for the segment.

Both engines come in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

2023 GMC Acadia Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 GMC Acadia will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 35.000 dollars.
