According to the latest reports, the company is working on the next generation of this compact crossover. However, the new model will arrive sometime in 2023, probably for the 2024 model year. Therefore, it’s pretty easy to conclude that the 2023 Cadillac XT5 will most likely represent the final production year of the current generation. Logically, we don’t expect to see more significant changes.
This should be a typical carryover model, with familiar design and characteristics. Despite the age, the current model still offers some pretty good things, such as a spacious cabin with generous passenger space. Furthermore, we like the powertrain, particularly in terms of fuel economy. On the other hand, the ride quality isn’t on par with rivals, while the interior quality could be better.
Since there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2023 Cadillac XT5 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2023 Cadillac XT5 Design
The current generation has been around since 2017 and while that doesn’t seem too old, things feel a little bit outdated in some aspects. This particularly refers to the ride quality, which isn’t particularly engaging. That’s no wonder if we consider that the current model rids on the C1 platform, with the standard front-wheel drive. Of course, AWD models are available too. On the other hand, the ride is decently smooth and comfortable.
Visually, we don’t expect to see any changes, though things like new color options are always possible. Simply, we are talking about the final production year, so there’s no reason for changes, even though the current model doesn’t follow the brand’s latest design language.
Interior
The same thing goes for interior design. This crossover is one of the biggest in the class, with a wheelbase that goes up to 112.2 inches in wheelbase. As a result, the legroom is pretty generous in both rows of seats, so we could see that the XT5 accommodates up to five passengers pretty easily. The front seats are quite comfortable, with pretty decent side support. Finally, we like the driving position, which provides pretty good visibility in all directions.
When it comes to the overall interior quality, things are pretty decent too. The XT5 isn’t impressive, but won’t disappoint you either. Still, we have to mention that younger rivals come with finer materials and generally look more elegant from the inside.
Finally, there is the cargo area, which offers typical ratings for the class. In numbers, that would be around 30 cubic feet of cargo space behind its back seats and 63 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
Features
Once again, keep in mind that we are talking about the final production year. Therefore, we probably won’t see any bigger change regarding the standard and available features. All models should come standard with goodies like remote start, dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, satellite radio, Bluetooth, four USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This list of options should include goodies like wireless device charging, navigation, a 14-speaker Bose audio system, and a rear-seat entertainment system.
The same is with driver-assistance features. So, all models should come standard with things like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear seat reminder etc. Also, there is a long list of available features, which includes goodies like a head-up display, rear camera mirror, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear pedestrian alert, surround-view camera, and parallel and perpendicular park assist and many more.
2023 Cadillac XT5 Engine
So far, this crossover was offered with two powertrain options and we don’t expect anything different from the 2023 Cadillac XT5. Therefore, base models should continue with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. That’s quite good for daily commuting, especially if we consider pretty good fuel economy figures, which go around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
For those who look for something peppier, there is the optional 3.6-liter V6, which puts out 310 horsepower and offers notably better driving dynamics. However, it’s also notably thirstier – you may count on about 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
Both engines come in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty decent job.
2023 Cadillac XT5 Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Cadillac XT5 will arrive sometime late in the year, with a starting price of around 45.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Lincoln Corsair, Genesis GV70, Mercedes-Benz GLB, Infiniti QX50 etc.
