2023 Audi Q7 Preview: Hybrid and Release Date

2023 Audi Q7

Audi’s flagship SUV impresses in many ways. It is one of the best mid-size SUVs you can find around, despite the fact that we are talking about one of the oldest models in the class. The current generation has been around since 2016 but we don’t expect that it could receive a redesign in the next few years. The 2023 Audi Q7 should be a typical carryover model, which will continue with the same design and features. Still, it’s always possible to see minor updates like new standard features, new color options etc.

These potential updates are minor, so it’s not hard to conclude that the 2023 Audi Q7 will continue to deliver familiar pros and cons. What we really like about this SUV is its ride quality, which offers plenty of comfort but a high level of athleticism as well. The interior quality is pretty impressive, while the list of standard and available features is quite long. On the other hand, the biggest complaints go to the tight third row, low mpg ratings and small cargo area.

2023 Audi Q7 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation should remain in production for some more time. Logically, the 2023 Audi Q7 should carry on without more important changes. We are about to see a familiar layout, which is based on a well-known MLB architecture. We particularly like the ride quality, which is pretty impressive. It is mostly about comfort, though the level of athleticism is at a respectable level too.

While the mechanics have been the same since 2016, the styling has been updated for the 2020 model year. This update brought a new front end, which now follows the brand’s contemporary design language. That’s why we are pretty sure that the 2023 Audi Q7 will bring no important changes, though minor tweaks like new color options are always possible.

Interior

Interior changes aren’t expected either. We believe that the 2023 Audi Q7 interior will remain the same, which is not a bad thing at all. Simply, this crossover comes with an elegant and well-built cabin, characterized by super-nice materials and impressive build quality. The cabin is also full of high-tech features, which make the dashboard look even more upscale.

When it comes to interior space, the first two rows are very generous. The front seats are massive and supportive, while the driving position is very good. The second row accommodates adults with ease as well, while we can’t say the same for the third row. These seats and tight and work for kids only.

The cargo area offers around 14.2 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 35.7 cubic feet behind the second, and of 69.6 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. Those are subpar ratings for the segment.

Features

Although we could see a couple of novelties, we are pretty sure that most of the things will remain the same in this aspect. This means that the list of standard equipment should include goodies like tri-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, a 10.1-inch upper touch screen, an 8.6-inch lower touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, navigation, Bluetooth, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, HD Radio, and a 10-speaker stereo. Among upgrades, we expect to see goodies like quad-zone climate control, wireless charging, premium audio system etc.

The same thing goes with safety features. The current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It comes standard with a rearview camera, parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, lane departure warning etc.

2023 Audi Q7 Engines

Under the hood, the 2023 Audi Q7 will carry on in the same way for sure. Therefore, base models will continue with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower. It offers OK performance and may serve well as a daily commuter. Unfortunately, it isn’t particularly efficient. It returns just 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, which is pretty low for the segment, even when compared with V6 rivals

However, we would rather pick the optional 3.0-liter V6, which puts out around 335 horsepower and offers much better driving dynamics. This one returns around 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. Both engines come with a mild-hybrid system.

For those who are looking for something really capable, there is the SQ5 model, which comes with a 4.0-liter V8 engine, which is good for a full 500 horsepower.

All three engines come coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which does a really good job.

2023 Audi Q7 Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2023 Audi Q7 sometime in the last quarter of 2022, with a starting price of around 57.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Volvo XC90 etc.
