It looks like we are about to see the 2022 Volvo XC40 with a couple of interesting novelties, including new powertrain options, new body style and several more novelties.
All these novelties should make sales numbers even better, while the aspect that draws the most attention is the electrification. The all-electric version is already coming for the next year, while the latest reports suggest a completely new hybrid powertrain soon after. We are also about to see a coupe version, which will compete with other coupe-like models in the segment, which are becoming pretty popular these days. The updated version will allegedly arrive sometime in the first quarter of 2022.
2022 Volvo XC40 Redesign
This small crossover has been around for just a couple of years but the Swedish manufacturer already works on an update, to make it even better. According to the latest reports, we will see a lot of novelties on this model in the near future. One of the things we should mention is the addition of a new body style. Of course, we are talking about a coupe version of this model, which will come with a sloping roof and other design elements that characterize this body style. At this point, it’s still unclear if this model is about to come as a 2022 Volvo XC40 Coupe, or it is about to use a new nameplate. In any case, reports say it’s coming for sure.
Also, this update should bring some styling novelties to the standard version. This should be a typical update, which brings visual novelties primarily at the front. Considering that the current model looks pretty amazing, we have no doubt that these changes will be subtle and that we won’t see anything unpredictable. When it comes to the powertrain lineup, we count on a lot of novelties to come with the 2022 Volvo XC40. The latest reports suggest that the new model will come with a new hybrid powertrain, different from current systems that are based on a three-cylinder gasoline engine. On the other side, the current gasoline engines will carry on in the same way. This means two familiar turbocharged options. The base version features a max output of 187 horsepower, which seems enough for daily commuting. Also, this engine returns pretty decent 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The optional engine is good for about 250 horses, which is the amount of power that ensures some pretty serious performances. However, fuel economy is a little bit lower in this case.
Volvo XC40 Recharge
Of course, there is also a new, all-electric version that is coming in the near future, as the XC40 Recharge. This model comes with a couple of electric motors, with an impressive output of 400 horsepower, which would be enough to ensure amazing performances, including 0-60 time in less than five seconds. Besides plenty of power, this version will also be characterized by a decent range. The company claims this model will be able to make around 200 miles on a single charge. It will come equipped with a 75-kWh battery pack, and drivers will be able to charge it in several ways, including both fast and home chargers.
2022 Volvo XC40 Release Date and Price
According to the latest reports, the 2022 Volvo XC40 will probably come sometime in the first quarter of 2022. We don’t expect to see some significant changes in terms of price, so base models should go around 34.000 dollars.
