The world of electric vehicles is virtually growing on a daily basis and one of the premium carmakers that has taken this process pretty seriously is Mercedes-Benz. The famous luxury carmaker has already introduced a couple of all-electric models and another one is on the way. It won’t come as a crossover, but rather as a luxury sedan. We are talking about a model that will hit the market in the second half of the year, as the 2022 Mercedes Benz EQE.
As you may presume, the new model will slot below the new EQS and it will be an all-electric counterpart of the legendary E Class. From what we know so far, it will be fast, efficient and luxurious, and it will also stick to a lot of the company’s traditional design solutions.
2022 Mercedes Benz EQE Design
In terms of base design characteristics, the new 2022 Mercedes Benz EQE will share most of its parts with models like EQC and EQS. It will represent the company in the segment of mid-size sedans, as an electric counterpart of the E Class. However, it will be slightly smaller compared to the internal-combustion model. Still, we have no doubt it will be very spacious and comfortable.
When it comes to styling, it’s still hard to talk about details. The testing model has been around for a while but still wears a complete camouflage. We can only see a typical sedan silhouette, but the exact styling is yet to be seen. We presume it would feature the same design language as the EQC and EQS models. Of course, there is always plenty of room for exclusive details.
Interior
On the inside, there is no doubt that the 2022 Mercedes Benz EQE will offer a certain amount of details that are typical for electric vehicles. However, we have no doubt that the company will stick to its traditional design approach when it comes to cabin design. Therefore, count on a lot of familiar styling details, which made this company famous for excellent interior quality and unparalleled ride quality in the class.
Naturally, we count on a large 12.3-inch infotainment system at the center stack, equipped with the MBUX software, which is definitely one of the best in the business. Of course, you may count on other typical MB features, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a long list of other tech goodies. Naturally, the list of safety and driver assistance features will be pretty long too and should also include Level 3 autonomous driving ability.
2022 Mercedes Benz EQE Drivetrain and Performances
In this aspect, we expect a similar setup to the EQC model. This would mean a system of electric motors on both axles, with a total output of around 400 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. With such numbers, we have no doubt that the new sedan will be able to hit 60 in less than 5 seconds. Of course, we might see some more powerful, performance versions in the future as well, which would compete with Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model S in terms of performances.
When it comes to the max range, we presume that the 93.2-kWh battery from the EQC would provide a significantly longer range than in the EQC, which can make nearly 200 miles on a single charge. This one could easily go over 250, if not a full 300. Of course, all kinds of charging options would be included, including a fast charger that needs just 40 to charge 80% of the battery.
2022 Mercedes Benz EQE Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2022 Mercedes Benz EQE sometime in the second half of the year, probably in the last quarter. When it comes to the price, some rough estimations go around 65.000 dollars.
