2021 Volvo XC60 Changes, Price, Specs, Release Date

2021 Volvo XC60 Featured

The Swedish carmaker is known for making amazing cars and the XC60 is a perfect example. This compact crossover has been around in the current form for a couple of years and it stands out in many ways. Of course, there is an attractive styling, while things become better once you step inside. There, you will find one of the best-looking interiors in the class, full of hi-quality materials and loaded with tech features. Furthermore, the ride is pretty smooth, while seats are really amazing. There is plenty of room, both for passengers and cargo.

All in all, the current generation is still quite fresh and we are pretty sure that bigger changes won’t come for the next year. Simply, the company is currently busy with the redesign of the flagship XC90 model, so a mid-cycle refresh of this one will have to wait its turn. Still, that doesn’t mean we will have to wait until the end of the year to see it, as the latest reports suggest the launch date for the end of summer.

2021 Volvo XC60 Redesign

While some smaller updates are definitely possible, the overall design of this crossover will certainly remain the same. This includes both mechanics and aesthetics. When it comes to mechanics, this model doesn’t go far away from the rest of the lineup, so it rides on a familiar SCA platform. Of course, it comes with its own specifics, while there are also special upgrades on models like Polestar, which comes with the upgraded suspension setup.

Visually, the 2021 Volvo XC60 will also carry on in the same way. This means you may count on an attractive-looking compact SUV, which completely follows the brand’s latest design language. For the next year, we might see novelties in terms of new color options but anything more than that would be a real surprise.

Interior

The same thing goes for the interior design, which could come with some new color schemes in the offer. Still, the overall cabin layout will certainly remain the same, which isn’t a bad thing at all. This model features one of the best looking cabins in the class. The overall quality is amazing. Materials are fantastic, while aesthetics are impressive as well. The dashboard combines modern and classic design solutions, while the long list of standard and available tech features makes everything look even more opulent.

When it comes to the interior space, this model measures pretty impressive 112.8 inches in wheelbase, which is on par with many mid-size crossovers. Therefore, the amount of space is actually pretty impressive. Both rows are very generous in terms of legroom and overall space. The same thing goes for the cargo area. You may count on about 22.4 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 63.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, and these are above-average numbers for the class.

Features

A long list of standard and available features has always been a strong point of Volvo models and this one is no exception. The 2021 Volvo XC60 will carry on in the same way and we presume there is enough room to see a couple of additions. Still, most of the things are about to remain the same. So, base models will come with goodies like a 9-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a 10-speaker audio system. Additionally, you can get things like navigation, premium audio system and more.

Safety is where this model really shines. All models come standard with run-off road mitigation and protection, oncoming lane mitigation, driver drowsiness monitoring, collision mitigation with active braking, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, and a rearview camera. You can also get blind spot monitoring, rear collision warning with braking, rear cross traffic alert, active park assist, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, distance alert, a head-up display and many more.

2021 Volvo XC60 Engines

Things under the hood will certainly remain the same, which means you may count on four options. Base models come with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower. The same turbo-engine is available in a version with a supercharger and a max output of 316 horsepower.

Of course, you may also count on a plug-in hybrid version, which delivers full 400 horsepower. In the hi-performance Polestar version, the output increases to 415 horses.

All models come with a familiar 8-speed automatic transmission.

2021 Volvo XC60 Release Date and Price

As we already mentioned, the 2021 Volvo XC60 should hit the market by the end of summer. When it comes to the price, we still don’t know the exact details but we presume that things won’t change too much compared to the current model. Therefore, base models should go around 41.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Audi Q5, BMW X3, Jaguar F-Pace etc.
