Back in 2019, the popular mid-size crossover SUV went through a significant redesign. The crisp design language included a refreshed front end, remodeled lightning, updated safety suite, and much more. Now, the South Korean automaker brings a new generation of the crossover, with no significant cosmetic changes. But, 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe will introduce a new engine, as well as a more appealing appearance, thanks to the striking LED headlights and lightning, which is the trademark of the model.
Furthermore, on the sides of the vehicle, you’ll notice a headlight-to-taillight character line. Also, the backside is highlighted by a sharp LED taillights, and a new, remodel bumper. But, the features which will distinguish this model from the rest of the class, and give it the recognizable look are the astonishing aluminum-alloy wheels, and satin-finish encircled side mirrors.
Moreover, the lineup will go through some changes too. The three-row model will be known as the Santa Fe XL, while the Sport version will be withdrawn from future production. We already see for the 2020MY that the Ultimate and SEL Plus trims are discharged from the lineup. So, we expect that the roster changes will remain the same for the 2021MY as well.
2021 Hyundai Santa Fe Interior
As for the cabin, 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe will keep the layout pretty much the same as on the ongoing model. The design includes a well-made dashboard with numerous horizontal lines, that will provide an impression of high comfort and roominess. Moreover, the mid-size crossover includes angular air vents, which will enhance the sportier look of the vehicle, and a glare-reducing floating infotainment system.
The customers might choose between a two-or three-row configuration. Also, most of the interior features will remain unchanged for the new model. So, expect to see a cloth seating, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a 7-inch touchscreen.
New Engine and Safety Features
According to the reports from the South Korean automaker, 2021 Santa Fe is ready for the changes under the hood. Well, Hyundai Motor Group has confirmed the development of a hybrid system for the Tucson, Sorento, and Santa Fe models. Moreover, the company will replace the naturally aspirated four-cylinder 2.4-liter engine with an FWD petrol 3.5-liter V6 powertrain. Unfortunately, the V6 engine specs are still unknown.
But, we expect that it will produce better output than the 185 hp-good 2.4-liter mill. Another option might be a turbo-diesel, an all-wheel-drive engine. But in that case, this type of unit will add extra price to the 2021MY. The ongoing Santa Fe crossover offers excellent safety, and it is the IIHS Top Safety Pick.
Thanks to the standard emergency braking with pedestrian detection, the IIHS rated this model “Good” in all crash tests and “Superior” in forward crash prevention. Besides this feature, standard safety suite for the 2021 Santa Fe includes rear-seat alert, lane-keep assist, hill start assist, driver attention warning, and much more.
2021 Hyundai Santa Fe Release Date and Price
The release date for the 2021MY is still unknown. However, based on the company’s last year’s release strategy, we expect to see a new generation of mid-size crossover by the fall of 2020. As for the pricing, with a couple of significant changes in styling and for the engine room, the 2021 Santa Fe will probably be a bit more expensive than the current model. So, we assume that the price range will be from $28,000-$42,000, with destination charges included.
