2021 Chevrolet Trax Review, Redesign, Colors, Changes, Price, Release date

2021 Chevrolet Trax Featured

Although Chevy has recently launched the brand-new Trailblazer, which is quite similar in size, that doesn’t mean that Trax is about to be discontinued. The company decided to keep both models in the offer and, as you may presume, this one will be a slightly more affordable choice. That’s why Chevy has decided to drop the range-topping Premier trim level. The rest of the 2021 Chevrolet Trax lineup continues pretty much in the same way.

All in all, the overall design is about to remain the same. You may count on the same crossover that has been launched five years ago, which is designed primarily as an urban crossover, which is maneuverable and easy to park. It also offers a more than decent amount of tech features and a very user-friendly infotainment system. Things under the hood definitely remain the same. Interestingly, next-year has already arrived.

2021 Chevrolet Trax Redesign

From what we can see on the new model, there aren’t many changes, at least not in terms of the exterior design. This means the same styling, which has been updated three years ago when this small crossover was updated with a completely new front end. On the other side, the overall styling hasn’t changed too much since the initial launch. Of course, the same thing goes for size. This is a typical subcompact crossover, which features just 100.6 inches in wheelbase.

The 2021 Chevrolet Trax still rides on a good-old Gamma II platform. It offers decent ride characteristics, combined with a decent level of comfort and good fuel economy. Still, the ride is a little bit stiffer compared to most competitors, so the overall driving experience could be better for sure.

Interior

The cabin of 2021 Chevrolet Trax is a kind of mixed bag. On one side, there are some really good points, but there are also several drawbacks. Chevy designers have never been great in terms of dashboards and other parts of the cabin, so this model also comes with some odd design solutions, though there are some really nice touches. There is a lot of hard plastics around the cabin, while one of the biggest complaints goes to the sound insulation, which is really bad at highway speeds.

Given the overall size, the 2021 Chevrolet Trax actually offers a fair amount of interior space. This is a subcompact crossover, but still offers a decent amount of legroom in the second row of seats. In practice, both rows can accommodate adults, at least on shorter trips. We also like the visibility, which is pretty good in all directions.

When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on 18.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 48.4 cubic feet with rear seats down. These are pretty much average numbers for the class.

Features

The 2021 Trax comes with no significant changes in terms of standard equipment. Things are largely the same as in the previous model year, with minor additions only. The list of standard tech features includes things like a 3.5-inch digital driver information display, power windows and locks, a rearview camera, and the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System with a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker stereo, and two USB ports. Additionally, you can get things like satellite radio, cruise control, remote start, a household-style power outlet, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a sunroof, and a seven-speaker Bose premium stereo.

When it comes to safety features, a rearview camera is the only standard features. Additionally, you can get goodies like include forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.

2021 Chevrolet Trax Engine

Things under the hood have remained the same. The 2021 Chevrolet Trax comes with a familiar 1.4-liter turbo-four. It puts out around 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. For daily commuting, this seems quite decent but you will certainly notice a lack of power on the highway. The engine comes in pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which delivers power to either front or all wheels and does the job pretty well.

When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. AWD models are notably thirstier and return just around 24 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

2021 Chevrolet Trax Price and Competition

The 2021 Chevrolet Trax has already arrived and starting price goes around 21.500 dollars. Some of the key players in the segment are models like Toyota C-HR, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3 etc.
