The current version of the popular compact crossover in on the streets for almost three years. Therefore, the Bavarian automotive giant is considering a mid-cycle refreshment. Besides the redesigned exterior, 2021 BMW X3 could bring a lot of brand-new features. At this moment, most of the changes are marked as ‘top secret’, but we hope that the company will soon reveal more details.
In addition to the visual changes, the new model will offer an all-electric version. This model will be known as iX3, and it will include brand-new powertrain. The electric variant will provide a good amount of power, and a more important, excellent driving range. The 2021MY will have a starting price of around $41,000. The release date is set for the third quarter of the year.
2021 BMW X3 Redesign
As we mentioned in the introduction paragraph, 2021 BMW X3 will get a facelift. Besides the announced all-electric model, the regular internal combustion version will be redesigned. As a result, more appealing design language will draw attention to a wider range of customers. The front end will get remodeled bumpers and fascia.
Also, the compact crossover will add a new set of wheels and colors to the palette. As for the cabin, most of the things will stay the same. Well, BMW is famous for its luxurious cabin. 2021 X3 won’t provide anything less than the top quality interior.
Equipment Updates
2021 BMW X3 will feature a lot of new, and updated equipment. The ongoing model already includes a decent amount of equipment. But, the competition like Audi Q5 or Acura RDX offers even more. Therefore, the company decided to step up and bring more luxury to the cabin. The standard features will be a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a 12-speaker audio system.
Moreover, the X3 will include a panoramic moonroof, an optional 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot, and a wireless device charging. As for safety, standard features are a rearview camera, front/rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and traffic sign recognition. The upper trim levels add more advanced safety systems such as lane departure warning, a head-up display, front/rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and parallel park assist.
Engine Specs
Besides the new electric powertrain, 2021 X3 won’t bring significant changes under the hood. The US models will keep the 2.0-liter turbo-four and 3.0-liter inline-six units. The first one produces 250 hp, while the M40i-exclusive 3.0-liter mill makes 355 hp. With this power, the X3 M40i sprints from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds.
Moreover, the forthcoming compact crossover offers excellent fuel economy. Surely, the X3 will be one of the most efficient vehicles in the segment. The 2.0-liter returns 23 mpg in the city, and 30 mpg on the highway. Also, remember that the 2020MY will offer a hybrid version as well, with a turbo-four engine and combined output of 293 hp.
2021 BMW X3 Price and Release Date
All-new 2021 BMW will be available in the third quarter of the year. As for the price, the announced facelift and the updates will raise the starting level a bit. The current model comes for around $41,000. So, we expect that the 2021 X3 will have a close-to $45K price tag. The starting price for the all-electric Bimmer is still unknown.
